huan, slow and relaxed.

A retired Chinese literature professor when she started hand weaving, Ming chose 缓 (huǎn) as the name of her studio. Not only does it characterize this ancient craft tradition, the pictograph also echoes Ming’s intention. 纟 is threads, and 爰 is a one hand leading another, extending help and support.

When 2020 shut us all in and tore families apart, Ming poured her heart out to textile art. She weaves our longing for a welcoming and safe shelter into carpet, coasters, and wall art. Thread by thread, the home series was made.

We would love to hear what home means to you. Drop us a line and see how we can co-create a piece.

We can't wait to read your note!
